welcome back blogger boy

God, I haven't been blogging for almost a week, or more. Which means I will probably miss out on alot of things that I wanted to say but didn't have the time to. This would be the first blog I write from the office. To sum it all up, the pros of working in Dentsu is, I had opportunity to experience the real deal. How people actually work around here. Well, I'm not too sure about other ad agencies but I would personally represent Dentsu as a very warm and friendly agency.
I was taught on doing soooo many things, things I expect to learn and the things I never thought I'd find out. What is it? That's the part I think I'm gonna leave out.
Training's for Strategists in Progress started too, which made everything packed up. I go to work from 9-10am and leave the office around somewhere between 3am-6am. Or not go back at all. Yeah, I would say I pretty much suffered like non of y'all did, but I'm always looking at the positive side, having to attain, for one the experience and consider myself one step ahead of most uni grads. It's very good to start at the age of 20, cuz I can then set myself goals that are to be achieved at younger ages, which again, is not going to be mentioned here.
Tips and tricks from the big players themselves in 95 Percent, niceeee. Tips and tricks from the big players in Dentsu, even nicerrrrr. Damn, hope I make it here after my graduation. Or before ;)

Last weekend, went back for family and friends session. I'm now very appreciative of the fact that I can spend time at home, or rather simply just sitting and having conversations with close friends. Something to be treasured, for I will not have these moments for the next two months I'd say. After reaching home, (if I ever go home) I collapsed on my bed. Then get up the next day, stares at the clock and go, Shit.
But yeah, I've been given views from the experienced people, saying how I should view things from a positive point of view. Though how much I seemed like I dont have a life, I could actually take and learn something out of it, which one of it is experience, and by that I improve in different couple of things. Get experience Waikit! Start working your butt off. It's worth it!

It's 4.15am now (in the office), I'm done with my work, and Ronald's still doing the rest of it. This feels like half day man, wooh!

To those you started on Ad Newbies, use the training completely to improvise yourselves, cuz four weeks is very short. Just enjoy the most you can out of it.

Would also like to express thankfulness to

God for EVERY SINGLE THING
My family, for celebrating my opportunity to work in Dentsu, and being extermely supportive of me.
My best friends, you know who you are, for being there when I have 2 days free from work.
My girlfriend, for accepting aaaaall that I am.

Ray Goh for being patient with my standard of extreme newbie in the field and guiding me through it
Alexis for being my mentor since day one
Vidya for being real, and again on the time spent for answering my questions and tagging me in and out ;p
Woei Hern for calling me over to Dentsu
Norman for being there
Ronald for being one partner I can learn from
Peter Gan for revealing tips and tricks and giving your perceptions to me. Gentleness is Strength.
Janet Lee for your concerns over my health and well being.
Nasreen Ma for giving me inspirations like no one ever did, and your truthfulness.

I'll hate to end it with etcetera, etcetera but I got to end somehow! Best thanks for my blog readers, keep reading! For you and I do not know what's coming up next!

CLIENT'S PREVIEW OF THE PRODUCT

Watched Spiderman with Pam yesterday. After a whole long time of not going to the movies. Anyway, the movie was good, don't mind watching it again. I'm not going to say any spoiler here to you, so I'll just recommend you to watch it.

Today,

Presentation class, Mr.Ting in stripped white shirt (Manager of SPM)

Pleasant day. Our presentation for our indusity project. We were suppose to do a board game for SPM (Syarikat Permainan Malaysia) It's a group thing. This is one of the presentations that I'm so excited about, cuz I wasn't nervous at all. Not one bit.
The day started off as quite a pain. I left house late, and it was raining. My car was parked around 300 footsteps away. Good thing our presentation attires were hoodies, so I didn't look too messy.
The deal with this whole indusity thing is, SPM will be choosing one of all the team's board. The best one. So, according to the client's feedback, we did an excellent job! Mr. Ting couldn't say more to what we've done. Good job teammates! Let's just wait for our games to be in the stores very soon!

Vocable: Penguin Adventure

Mayhooi, Yuli and I.

Agusta, Yuli, Wk, Vic, Teng2, Mayhooi, Carol.
My team. Proud of you guys man!

Vic. I know deep down, there's this crazy side of him.
It's just the matter of making him do it. I did, and this is the true Vic.

Herman & I. Think this guy's gonna be someone one day.

Enough said, that was it for the first part of the day. Very tiring, but memorable. Drove back, told Pam bout the good news, she's happy. (She has always been one of the most supportive people to me. Thank you sayang!) We decided to get some good food and fill up. So we tried the new Jusco at Sri Kembangan. It was nice! Pam bought shoes for herself ;D

Secret Recipe, Jusco, Sri Kembangan

And we tried the 'shopping' thing for girls. I liked it! ;)

i got it!

Went printing all my stuff for portfolio this morning with sayang. She's so patient, wait damn long for my printing. Anyway, I called Woei Hern again and again, can't get through, did the same with Dentsu, can't get through also.
So I decided, let's just drive there now. I don't know where Plaza Damansara is anyways. We reached there, took a lift, came out. Oh My God, the place was awesome! The whole interior and renovation of the place is damn cool. I got so intimidated. I loved the look on sayang's face at that moment.
So I thought, shit suppose to make appointment by calling him but can't get through. Let's just go in and make appointment. It didn't end up that way though, Woei Hern and Norman came out, spared my their precious time and I did the interview. Apparently, I was told that my art direction is better than copy, so that's something interesting to hear.
He's interested, and I was asked to consider 3 months internship instead of 2 and a half months (semester break) I didn't give my answer right away though, cuz I'll have to consider alot. The best part is, as an intern only, I was told I will be doing real client's projects with them. Awesome! Starting next week!
So I figured, this 2 and half months holiday, will be very occupied by that, and my trainings at night. But all in all, I'm damn happy. Thank you!! Thank you!!

Oh yes, btw while we were on our way back to cyber, and it rained heavily. I mean heavy, HEAVY. To my surprise, I heard some knockings on my car windshield and windows. I looked closer, and I see small white stones dropping from the sky! Wth?! A lot of things happened today.

presentation day part 2

Three groups remaining, and presented just now. Class were so responsive to their presentations, thumbs up to them! A whole different group of panelists this time, including Janet herself. It helped me a lot to listen to Janet's criticism, at least now I know where she's really coming from, when she gives her feedback.
Well, its the last day of Ad Newbies, so of course we were kinda hyped up and emotional at the same time. Really hope most of you guys are taking the next coming Strategists in Progress. The whole class was making a big 'hoohaa' when it came to the JigglyPuffs, concerning their ideas and their brand, Jalak. Lol. Fun, very fun ;)
We ended the day pretty quickly, by having ourselves supper, then left.

And I was also informed by Janet that Woei Hern called me for an interview for an intern in Dentsu! Wooooh! There are plenty of things running in my head right now, like why am I selected and all that, but right now I'm more focused in coming up with ideas and ads for the interview. Thank you Jesus! Thank you for the opportunity! I know we shouldn't count on things like these in order to be recognized, but looking on the bright side, I haven't been in an internship before and I still have plenty to learn about the ad environment. So here I come! I'm so going to work my ass of this one.

Ad Newbies in Progress Presentation

Ad Newbies in Progress Presentation

What a night! We were all so hyped up and nervous presenting in front of the panelists. We did our best, and the whole class was very supportive and judges were fun people. The rest of the experience will be something that's hard to put in words. However, I'll never forget this day.

The famous Andara and I

Chin2,Silvia,Tang and I.

'Awesome Threesome' Zahirah, Gwyneth and Andara.

Nalisa!! Quickly grab your pic! Heehee..

Woei Hern, Senior Copywriter of Dentsu looking at some of the ads during presentation.

Panelists, again.

Caryn, Alia, Budi. Go Verve ABC (Alia,Budi,Caryn) Man,you guys really DO have a reason for the alphabets don't you.

Chicklets. Mazrah, Sartika and Badd.

This is a proof to 95% trainer's childishness. Hahahah. Peter and Shahnaz fooling around behind Janet, like kiddies gossiping. How is that a formal panelists discussion?

There am I along with my team, presenting our ads to them. A moment to be cherished and remembered.

It was a real fast-paced four weeks for me, till tonight. I finally finished the first module, Ad Newbies. Learned alot. A LOT. This four weeks was practically a lifetime to me. All of us changed our whole perspective on the way we look at ads, at advertising and some of us, life.
I've never felt such an intimate relationship with my classmates before (not all of them) and this class rocks! Everyone knows each other personally. There were no barriers of communicating whatsoever.

I'll cherish this night alot. Presenters tomorrow, all the best to you and nail your presentation!
Cheers!

charged up

I have a week's time for final project, and my group haven't sat down and discussed till it was only the last four days. So, we did the best we could, the best ways. I've learned on how do we really work along together, when to be honest and so on. Work's work after all. The best part is, if the our idea's good, its great. If it's not, it sucks. That's what I'm so anxious to know about. Being mediocre is boring. No one wants the "it's okay" feedback.
Time for me to step out of my usual idea styles. Time for me to be more adventurous and take risks. Creative group heads, and account managers is definitely someone you won't regret presenting your work too. I'm really, really anxious to figure as to at least how they're feedbacks are like, so I can get a rough idea on how critical the industry is.

Thanks, Shahnaz for a tremendous style and enthusiastic way of training. Thanks Janet, for supporting us throughout the module. Ad Newbies class of April-May you guys are a great bunch of people to be with. It's just ironic that all of you happen to be so cool, and we make a great team together. Cheers!
