Wilson : 95 percent thought me so many things, basically the big picture of the advertising industry. It widened my horizon of advertising.
I then asked, how different is it compared to our college modules? (LUCT)
Wilson : Limkokwing teach you shit, all the things that you don't need to know. When you work in the industry, you would have to go learn things that our college don't teach you. In 95 percent, Janet Lee (Creative Director/Trainer) trains you from her experience.
Most of us gained a lot just by the hours of workshop. Part of us wanted to participate in this workshop for we believe that it'll help us gained much more than what the uni offers. But well, of course considering the amount of money we have to pay. All the four modules equal up to ten thousand ringgit. Yes, you've read it right, ten thousand in five months training. Again, there're pros and cons. You can look at it at positive way though. These thousands of ringgit spent is a small amount compared to the training we'll get and also OPPORTUNITY to present our works to creative directors and managing directors of the current advertising agencies such as ONM, Dentsu, etc.
Its a long story, really. I was really hyped up. Part of me says, just go dammit how many times do opportunities like these come around? Another part of me is kinda holding back. Ten thousand is a lot of money. With that amount, I cant spend a whole semester in college. Pros and cons, pros and cons. I even listed down them down, why should I go, why shouldn't I.
To cut the story short, the part of me that wants to go won. My parents were like, "Its VERY expensive!!" but I think they're kinda amused by how enthusiastic I was when I was explaining to them in detail of what this academy is all about.
There's more to come.
The time table of the intake, shows that I've 3 evenings a week for training classes. Weekdays schedules are 6pm-10pm, and that one Saturday is 10am-9pm. Considering that this first module I'm taking would be the same time as the second briefs that I'm doing for my college's assignments, I may not be able to sleep more than 4 hours a everyday. Second module though, is during my mid-year holidays (thank God) The next two, I might be doing it on next semester, or in year 2009 after my graduation.
College : 9am-5pm
95% : 6.30pm-10 pm
Execute Assignments and Generate Ideas : 11 pm- 6am
College work : ???
Sleep : ???
The pros : Doing it after my graduation would slow down the momentum, might forget little things. The progress might be affected/ not too smooth going.
The cons : Taking up modules 3 & 4 during my sixth semester would need a lot of my time and commitment. Coping with my college assignments and their professional training assignments would be something that can kill. Then again, if there's a will, there's a way.
Nasreen (College lecturer) : Go for it, but I suggest you not to do it during your sixth semester. I have students who're taking up 95 percent's modules during their college semesters, and they look like zombies when they see me. They don't sleep. They only sleep like 3 hours everyday.
Been a very long time since I've ever face tough decisions like this.
